Poem: Mighty Lion
I stalk the lowly prey,
like a hunter in the night.
Watch the birds and lizards scurry,
it’s my reputation that gives them fright.
.
You won’t see me approaching,
I attack in swiftly stealth.
If you want to escape my claws,
you’d better be in good health.
.
For I am ‘King of the Jungle’,
I am a mighty lion.
I am the one who rules the roost,
so don’t even bother trying.
.
My owners know who’s really boss,
but I don’t really care.
I only let them feed me well,
and I let them share my lair.
.
I am the mighty lion,
I’ll rip your couch to bits
Make sure you clean my litter tray,
‘cause what I’ve eaten has given me the shits.
.
I’ll give you dirty looks my friend,
if you yell at me for doing naughty stuff.
Vomit and hairball spews on the floor,
and that isn’t good enough?
.
I’ll sleep most of the hours in a day,
and lick my ass amongst your guests.
Scavenging off your kitchen bench,
is something that I enjoy the best.
.
I like to sit on your lap and purr,
but I am no silly fool
‘Cause while you stroke my fur with love
I’ll stain your clothes with drool.
.
I am the mighty lion
and sometimes I go by, “Damn Cat!”
It’s mostly when I’ve done something bad,
but hey, I am cool with that.
.
This poem is dedicated to our Chinchilla Persian cat who, at times, thinks that he is a lion. For most of the time however he is quite placid but can be vocal for wanting food and for wanting to be let out. His fur is thick and white which makes it way too hard for him to catch birds as they can see him from a mile away. He mostly catches lizards to which we yell at him and he drops them.
Chinchilla Persian’s fur is lighter and fluffier than a standard Persian cat. Even if you don’t have pet allergies you will still be sneezing from getting this light fluff up your nose. But how could you resist taking one of these kittens home when they look at you with their big green eyes!
His name is Winston. Because when we brought him home he cleaned up all our cob webs around our architraves by exploring our house. From this we said, “Incy Wincy Spider!” (from the nursery rhyme) and then we used Wincy to make Winston!
